Last night was my son’s first 4th of July, but he didn’t get to see a single firework! He was of course tucked in tight upstairs in his room, fast asleep. My daughter on the other hand, enjoyed it immensely, finally plucking up enough courage to hold a sparkler with Daddy. What did I do? Took pictures of course! I was experimenting with my camera, having never really attempted pictures of fireworks. It was amazing and fun and beautiful! My shop, Exquisite Image is full of floral photographs, but these were flowers of an entirely different kind! Some of my pictures were just awful, but there were quite a few that I really liked (I think I’ll do them as a note card set… hmmmmm…).
Today we’ll pack everyone up and head to the beach (if this fog ever breaks… but then again it’s only 7 am) to enjoy a BBQ with friends. It’s this perfect little secluded spot where I took this picture: “An Empty Beach” a week or so ago. I’m hoping it will stay a little overcast so I can get some more good shots. The kids are excited and so am I! I finally get to meet some of my husband’s friends from work. He came out here to Maryland about two months before the kids and I did, so he had plenty of time to meet new people. I’m still trying to find my way around (although I can get to the library thank goodness!). It’s a much bigger area then where I was living in Idaho, and although I’m so happy to be here, it can be a little intimidating at times. I told my husband yesterday that I wish I were braver… then I would pack the kids up in the morning and head out for road trips looking for antique shows and flea markets… I am on the East Coast now, and I just know there are tons! But I’m not quite that brave yet, and for now I will stick to the library (which is just down the road).
How was your 4th? Did you spend it with family? With friends? Did you burn your finger on the lighter again this year? Wherever you were, whatever you were doing, I hope it was lovely (and for all you who do not live in the US, I hope your Friday was Fantastic!!!).
Until next time…

Gorgeous pic! Happy late 4th!
I don’t see anything here about a contest, but that’s o.k.
You asked how my 4th was? Well, it started out with a pancake feed down in Manzanita, Oregon with family from around the country, and ended with spending the night at home in Vancouver, WA – comforting my panicked dog during the fireworks.
Hows that for an interesting day? ;o)
Fun picture!
That is such a beautiful picture of the fireworks!!!
Hi! I was surfing and found your blog post… nice! I love your blog.
