What to do when you don’t know what to do.

I am stumped. I will admit it, I will say it a hundred times today. I’m stumped. I want to take pictures, and there’s this sort of itchy feeling in my spine that keeps telling me to pick up my camera and go. There’s just one problem… I’ve got no inspiration right now. Nothing is shouting at me, nothing looks right today. So you know what? I’m just gonna start shooting things around the house. I’ve told other people to do it. My daughter gave me a plastic bottle and asked me to take a picture of it. What can I see when I look at that bottle? I don’t really care yet! I’m just going to start shooting and ask questions when I look at the photos later. My kitchen sink? I suppose those blue sponges and the blue dish soap and the silver faucet do look kind of nice together… and how about the way the light’s coming through my bathroom curtains? The silverware drawer looks nice, and there’s a pile of dress up necklaces on the floor there… Okay… I could start rolling with this! The chairs outside, the crown molding… Let’s check it out and see what happens!

The photograph posted at the top here is one that I took during my mad dash to regain inspiration today. Most of the pictures were dogs, not even worth messing with, but this is (quite literally) my little treasure. It reminds me of watching waves finger their way onto a beach only to slip away again.

  1. This would be a good picture, if you cropped the top extraneous 30%

  2. That’s a great way to regain inspiration. The other thing that helps is taking a day off from the camera! :) Good Luck!

  3. What a great way to gain inspiration! I’d love to see the pic of the kitchen sink, personally. ;)
